Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 September 2026
This policy explains how SnapConvert (“the App”, package
com.codexatgames.snapconvert) handles information.
SnapConvert is an offline JPEG, PNG, and WebP image converter for
Android and iOS.
1. Summary
SnapConvert converts images on your device. We do not create user accounts, and we do not upload your photos to a SnapConvert server. The App uses the internet only for advertising configuration, ads, and legally required consent messages.
2. Information we do not collect
- No name, email, phone number, or account registration.
- No photo library scan. Only the image you pick is read.
- Your selected and converted images are not sent to our servers.
- We do not operate our own analytics, crash, or tracking backend.
3. Information processed on your device
The following stays on the device unless you choose to share or save it:
- Images you select. Used only to detect format, show a preview, and convert JPEG, PNG, or WebP locally.
- Conversion history. File name, formats, sizes, quality, timestamp, and a local copy of the converted file are stored in app storage / SharedPreferences so you can share or delete later. You can delete one item or clear all history in the App.
- Theme preference. Light, dark, or system theme is saved locally.
- Ads config cache. A copy of the remote ads settings JSON may be cached locally so ads still work if the network is slow.
If you tap Save, the converted file can be written to Downloads or another location you choose. If you tap Share, the operating system share sheet sends the file only to the app you pick.
4. Permissions
- Photos / gallery (picker). To choose an image. On modern Android this uses the system photo picker; on iOS, Photo Library access is requested only for picking and optional export.
- Internet and network state. To load ads settings and advertisements.
- Advertising ID (Android). Used by Google advertising services when ads are on, subject to your device and consent settings.
- Storage (Android 9 and below only). To save converted files to Downloads on older devices.
5. Internet services we use
When ads are enabled by our remote configuration, the App may contact:
- Ads configuration. https://codexatgames.github.io/snap_convert.json is fetched when you open the App. This file only contains ads switches and ad unit settings. It does not receive your photos.
- Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads. Banner, interstitial, native, app-open, and rewarded ads may be shown. Google may collect device identifiers, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, crash/diagnostic data, and interaction data to deliver and measure ads. See Google’s Privacy Policy and AdMob & privacy.
- Google User Messaging Platform (UMP). In countries where consent is required (for example the EEA and UK), Google’s default consent message may appear before ads are requested. In countries such as India the form is typically not required and will not be shown.
On iOS, if tracking permission is requested, it is only to deliver more relevant ads if you allow App Tracking Transparency.
6. Legal bases (EEA / UK)
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies:
- On-device conversion and local history: performance of the service you request.
- Personalized advertising and advertising identifiers: consent, where required, collected through UMP.
- Non-personalized ads or storage of your consent choice: legitimate interests or consent, as applicable.
You can withdraw or change advertising consent from the privacy-options control in the App when Google requires that entry point, and from your device ad or tracking settings.
7. Children’s privacy
SnapConvert is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Do not use the App if you are under the applicable age.
8. Data retention
- Local history is kept until you delete an item, clear all history, or uninstall the App (up to 100 entries).
- Theme and cached ads settings remain until you clear app data or uninstall.
- Files you save outside the App (for example Downloads) remain under your control.
- Google may retain advertising data according to its own policies.
9. Your choices
- Refuse photo access; you can still use in-app sample images.
- Delete or clear conversion history in the App.
- Limit ad tracking in Android Settings or iOS Tracking settings.
- Uninstall the App to remove local SnapConvert data.
10. Data security
Conversion happens on-device. Local files use standard OS app storage. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Do not convert images you are not comfortable storing on the same device.
11. International users
If you use ads, Google may process advertising data on servers outside your country, including the United States, under Google’s terms and safeguards.
12. Changes
We may update this policy when the App’s data practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
